Our Certifications

Scatters Oils USA commitment to quality is evident with the certifications we have achieved from various accrediting bodies. Here are the certifications that we have achieved and continuously maintain for our wholesale essential oils:

Scatters Oils' products are Kosher Certified. The methods we use for extracting and preparing the oils adhere to what is proper according to Jewish biblical and rabbinic dietary laws. For essential oils, this means the ingredients and facilities used for producing our essential oils and the essential oils themselves have been inspected and found to be in accordance with kosher requirements.

Now, it might seem obvious that plants and their essential oils are not at risk of being non-kosher since these do not contain any dairy or meat products. But, if the equipment used for processing or storing the plants and essential oils has been used for non-kosher products, these intrinsically kosher products become non-kosher.

With Scatters Oils, this is never a problem. The facilities, equipment, tools, and items we use for producing and storing our essential oils have no trace of non-kosher substances. These are only used for our products and these are purged according to kosher standards if these are ever used for anything else.

Halal is an Arabic word that refers to what is permissible in Islamic law. Although it is often associated with what Muslims are permissible (halal) and forbidden (haram) to eat and drink, it also applies to products and items used for cosmetic, medical, and hygienic purposes.

For a product to be Halal certified, it must come from an acceptable source. Pure and authentic essential oils do not have this problem since they are extracted from plant materials. However, essential oils can still be prohibited according to Islamic law if they contain alcoholic beverages or forbidden animal products, or if it is processed with equipment used for anything forbidden.

Muslims can rest assured that the essential oils we offer here at Scatters Oils are certified Halal. Our essential oils are 100 percent made of plants and are processed without any intoxicant. We do not add alcohols that are considered intoxicants and only use those intended as an ingredient in perfumes and for medical and hygienic purposes. And, our equipment is only used for the extraction of our essential oils and we do not use anything that is forbidden in the Muslim religion during its processing.

Essential oils do not require any kind of approval from the FDA. However, when essential oils are added to a product intended for cosmetic or medical use, it becomes a requirement for any manufacturer of such products to have the FDA's approval for any essential oils added to their product. This is why Scatters Oils have FDA certifications since we know our clients sell our essential oils to their customers or use them as an ingredient for their products.

We submit our products to the FDA to determine their safety and efficacy. Then, they test and evaluate our essential oils to ensure that they meet the specified standards for purity, quality, and safety according to their intended use. This is why you can promote Scatters Oils' essential oils as safe for their intended use when you retail them to your customers or use them as an ingredient in your product.

The BCS Oko-Garantie is a certification body in Germany specializing in certifying organic products, specifically food, textiles, cosmetics, and essential oils. Getting their certification ensures our customers that Scatters Oils’ products are free from synthetic pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers that may harm the quality, purity, and safety of our essential oils. Kiwa BCS Oko-Garantie also monitors and evaluates our products on an ongoing basis so you can trust the standards for our products and supply inputs to remain of the highest quality.

Getting certified by the BCS Oko-Garantie also accredits Scatters Oils for the following organic certification standards:

  • EC 834/2007 and 889/2008 (EU Organic Regulation),
  • JAS (Japanese Agricultural Standard of Organic Agricultural Products)
  • KOC (Korean Organic Certification)
  • NOP (National Organic Program, USA)
  • FairTSA
  • GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard)
  • OSKSA (Organic Standard Kingdom of Saudi Arabia)
  • SPP (Símbolo Pequeños Productores)
  • Tunisian Organic Standard (Loi Tunisienne 99-30)

The USDA Certified Organic designation is given to us by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for our essential oils have been produced with plants that have been grown with only organic farming methods. These methods do not involve the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), and other harmful chemicals. Instead, we and our farmers only rely on natural methods for controlling and eliminating pests and improving and maintaining soil fertility.

To achieve USDA Certified Organic, our farms, and our suppliers must follow strict guidelines set by the USDA's National Organic Program, which include the use of organic seeds and acceptable farming practices. Our essential oils must also contain at least 95 percent organic ingredients, and, if there are any non-organic ingredients, they should be on the USDA's approved list. To ensure our compliance with certification standards, Scatters Oils, its farm suppliers, and its production facilities undergo regular inspections conducted by an approved certifying agent.

The Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) is a food safety management system used to identify and prevent potential hazards in the food production system. HACCP uses seven principles to achieve its objective. These are:

  • Identifying potential hazards in the food production process
  • Determining critical control points (CCPs) where these hazards can be controlled or prevented
  • Establishing critical limits for the CCPs in the production process
  • Implementing monitoring procedures to ensure critical limits are met
  • Identifying corrective actions in case of critical limits are not being met
  • Creating verification procedures to ensure the management system is working

By implementing HACCP on Scatters Oils’ production, we can ensure proper handling of plant materials and essential oils throughout our production process and that any mistakes made during production are given the right corrective action. Otherwise, we are more likely to waste products and deliver substandard essential oils due to improper handling and lack of monitoring.
